Australian Education System
Australia has the third largest number of international students in the English-speaking world behind the USA and UK, but in many countries Australia is many students’ first choice for international study. Australia Education has a standardized system of qualifications, and together with great lifestyle opportunities there is no wonder why more than 200,000 international students choose to study in Australia.
The Australian education system delivers a range of courses and offers various qualifications under the quality assurance guidelines endorsed by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). The AQF allows you to move easily from one level of study to the next, and from one institution to another as long as you satisfy student visa requirements. It allows for choice and flexibility in career planning. All qualifications in the AQF help you prepare for both further study and career development.
If you’re studying an AQF qualification, you can be sure that your institution is Government-authorized and nationally accredited, and that your Degree or other AQF qualification will be genuine. All institutions from Australian Schools to Australian Universities, Australian English Colleges to Australian Vocational Education and Training colleges and TAFE’s must be registered with the Australian Government and meet stringent Australian education registration conditions ensuring that courses are of high standards in both ethics and quality.
Schools
Schooling in Australia starts with kindergarten followed by 12 years primary and secondary school. Australia offers government and non-government schools. Some schools are co-educational, teaching boys and girls; others teach girls only or boys only. Australia has a national curriculum framework to ensure high academic standards across the country. After successful completion of secondary school, students can choose to study at a university or a TAFE institutes.
Vocational education and training (VET)
Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) offers the opportunity to practice your skills in a real work environment, which allows students to apply knowledge learnt inside the classroom. Programs are provided by Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutes, private colleges and some universities. You can achieve an AQF qualification (normally at Certificate or Diploma level) in a specialized area. You can then continue higher education or seek employment.
High education
Australian universities and high education institutions offer programs leading to Bachelor Degrees and higher qualifications in a wide range of fields. You will find that an Australian degree is beneficial to your further study and career prospect.
